Working Women Wednesday’s (WCW) – Maricela Jaramillo of Simply Little Glam

Surprise! I have another #WCW for July! I missed March, so I knew I wanted to feature to ladies this month.

I wanted to feature my friend of almost 5 years, Maricella Jaramillo of Simply Little Glam. Maricela was a co-worker of mine a few years ago, and even though we eventually parted ways at work, we still became good friends. Maricela has always had a Fabolous Fashion Blog that I admired so much, and she has always been extremely fashionable! I remember one day at work a few years ago, we were talking about her blog, and I told her I use to blog yearsssss ago (this was before I relaunched The Makings of B, read here.) She was one of the very first people who told me “Brittani, I think you should blog again.” After seeing how much it made her happy, I realized that blogging was what I loved to do as well. I appreciate her so much because she may not realize it but she was the first person to give me that push, and for that, I am forever grateful. We encouraged each other and helped each other throughout our undergraduate years in college. I wanted to feature Maricela not only because of what she means to me but because I love her blog so much! She is great at what she does and she deserves recognition. Enjoy Maricela’s short but sweet interview. 🙂

Maricela, could you give my readers a few details about who you are?

Hello, My name is Maricela and I am the creator of the Simply Little Glam blog. I created this space to talk about affordable fashion outfits and beauty trends.  I was born in Long Beach, California and I am a twenty-something fashion and beauty blogger currently living in Houston, TX.

Tell me more about Simply Little Glam and what it means to you.

Simply Little Glam is a creative outlet where you can find my daily outfits, inspirational ideas, styling on a budget, beauty tutorials and DIY projects. I love the idea of sharing your passion and connect with people from all over the world.

What made create your blog, Simply Little Glam? What are your goals for Simply Little Glam?

I started this company when I was looking for a job in the marketing world after graduation. It was very difficult for me in finding a job at the time for the reason of not having experience with digital marketing and advertising. Another reason, I would always get stopped in the street from random people asking me where I bought this outfit or where I got my shoes from. At that moment I came up with an idea of starting a fashion and beauty blog.
My long and short-term goals are to have a fashion clothing subscription business and to grow my blog.

Did you face any adversities growing up, or even in your adulthood? If so, tell us about them and how you overcame them?

The only adversities I faced was having trouble finding a job in my career field after graduation. I was applying for so many companies and got a lot of rejections or the company decided to move with someone else. I was feeling discouraged because I did not know what I was doing wrong. So I decided to take courses for excel and digital marketing to advance my skills.

Do you prefer a “9-5,” Entrepreneur life, or Both? Explain why.

I would say both because it helps me get more exposer in learning how to manage a business and how to advertise my business. I work in a corporate retail store where I learned a lot of influencers and affiliate companies.

What have you accomplished so far that you are most proud of? What do you think you can work on more?

I am most proud of in building this amazing creative space and getting a lot of positive feedback from my readers. I would like to work on more with networking with other bloggers and helping each other out.

What are some tips or advice you could share with anyone who may want to follow the same career path as you?

My advice for anyone interested in starting a blog is to don’t give up and work hard. There are so many things to learn from building your website. I started joining Facebook groups to learned more about the blogging world or peoples experiences. On Instagram, I research bloggers who are focused on fashion and reached out to them with questions to help me with my blog.
How can fellow readers reach you?
